For a receding chin there are mainly two lines of treatment, correction by using a plastic implant, or a bone graft taken from the same chin.
The plastic implants show a frequent displacement in later years as the implant cannot be fixed to the bone. The advance of a section of the patients chin and its fixing it to the basal bone achieves a correction which lasts the entire person’s life.
Chin excess is corrected by surgery and it is usually done in conjunction with a dentist or maxilo-facial surgeon as the teeth occlusion usually needs attention.
They do not leave any visible scar as the operations are done intraoraly.
